Featured Filmmaker, Seyi

Shoot Em Up Film Media Inc. is proud to support filmmakers on the rise. "If I Die Tonight," directed by Seyi, (pronounced Shea) is a dedicated story teller who has embraced a passion for exploring the unpleasant subject of police brutality. The film has screened in several festivals, and the production team is currently seeking a distributor to get it to a larger audience. The response to the film has been tremendous. It won the 2006 Best Documentary Film award, at the American Black Film Festival in Miami.

In Seyi's words, "This film is important to police and community relations, just as the film 'An Inconvenient Truth' was to the story of global warming." A film that was highly publicized by the involvement of former Vice President Al Gore. Seyi's film is a catalyst for change and dialogue. The film details and outlines several highly publicized police brutality cases and creates a unique story that captures both sides of the brutality equation. Shot in a 3 year time frame, the filmmakers went back to the edit room after the recent Sean Bell, 50 shot case. In that case an unarmed group of men celebrating a bachelor party at a local strip club in Queens, New York were fired upon by NYPD undercover detectives. Bell died the day before his wedding to the shock and outrage of the community. Seyi says "These are stories that are constantly happening in our many communities across the board" We at Shoot Em Up Film Media hope the best for Seyi a filmmaker on the rise.
